Product Information

Imitating the Qing Dynasty style, this covered court box with a wooden body was painted in traditional black lacquer. The surface of the box was incised and gilt in the qiangjin technique to outline the motif of dragon and foliate scrolls. The cover is decorated with a pattern inlaid with baibaoqian technique using soapstones, Baarin Mongolian pyrophyllite, clam shells, mother of pearl and other natural precious materials, carved into layered motifs of gourds, grapes, pomegranates, flowers, etc. Such exquisite craftsmanship showcases elegant aesthetics. “Jíqìngyǒuyú” is a traditional Chinese pattern of auspiciousness which symbolises endless joyful events, posterity, good luck, and people's yearning for a wonderful life and happiness.
