The teapot is mainly composed of a peony as a symbol of wealth, with a blank background and a gilt top. The rim of the lid is decorated with butterflies vividly laid out to look like they are flying amongst flowers. The peony is in the Lingnan School style of flower-and-bird painting, preserving the essence and line style of traditional Chinese painting, as well as blending with the signature colours of Canton art.
