Zhao Yao is a conceptual artist who seeks to reflect on our interrelations with spiritual and religious rituals by creating paintings, sculptures, video or installations. Zhao paints geometric patterns on denim only introduced in China in the 1980s. He also uses puzzles as inspiration to create geometric compositions.
