The octagonal box and cover feature the traditional crafts of incised colours and gilt mosaic. The complex process of such crafts requires engraving, painting, and gilding. The surface of the box is carved with floral patterns in skillful knifework, and painted in vivid colours. The sides of the box feature panels that are exquisitely hardstone-inlaid with various natural stones depicting peonies, narcissus, chrysanthemum, and plum blossoms vividly.
本品為八方式捧盒，採用金漆鑲嵌傳統的雕填彩繪工藝和鑲嵌工藝。雕填彩繪工藝的製作方法非常繁瑣，經過雕刻、彩繪、戧金等多道工序方可完成。盒面為雕填花卉紋，刀法渾厚圓潤，色彩豔麗生動。側面開光部分以各種天然石料，採用百寶嵌工藝製成牡丹、水仙、菊花、梅花等，雕工精細，畫面生動。
