Product Information

The lotus shape of the box is a novel design in itself and the inlaid materials coupled with the sculpted design makes the three-dimensional effect stand out. This artistic piece is created by inlaying gold lacquer within traditional thin lacquer, with the body painted in black and red lacquer. The lid is inlaid with various exquisite materials such as mother-of-pearl, lazurite (qingjin), tridacna shells, balin stones, and Shoushan stones. In the center of the lid, a Shanghai skink (grass dragon) pattern surrounds the Chinese phrase jixiangruyi (meaning great fortune) and the rest of the cover is decorated using a colour filling technique. The patterns featured on the eight sections reference the sacred suite of eight auspicious symbols of Tibetan Buddhism called Ashtamangala.
