Product Information

The trend of Chinoiserie, a term European used to describe Chinese artistic traditions, first started in the 17th century, thus hand fans imported from China were very well received in the Western world. Up to the 19th century, European produced their own exquisite hand fans in Rococo style. The folding fan handled with carved luodian embellished with gilt, undoubtedly seen as an ornate and unexceptional dress accessory. The hand-painted parchment as the fan’s leaf with elegant colouring portrays European aristocrats’ way of life.
