Margaret Woermann founded the Heartworks Stitching Club to showcase the craftwork of people in and around Cape Town. The Club has been running since 2004, aiming to employ and empower local craftswomen, as well as to showcase the beauty of cultural art. Being the owner and Creative Director of the Heartworks Stitching Club, Margaret has a big heart to take care of all embroidery ladies and their kids. The project is just like her own baby that she cares for it by making sure the ladies always have everything they need and making sure everyone is happy and healthy.
Heartworks Stitching Club is partly a social project, giving chances to individuals who can earn a living by producing unique and contemporary crafts. Everything is hand-made by a particular person or collective, giving them a personal and optimistic character. To Margaret, Heartworks Stitching Club is all about developing new skills for the ladies and to produce good quality embroidery, and to help them improve the quality of lives.
