Enzo Catellani was born in Zibello in 1950. Since 1980s he has begun designing and producing his own series of lamps in limited edition, which were sold in his own shop. In 1989 his lamps attract the attention of Renate and Peter Meese, distributors of Dusseldorf, and his work was presented at Fiera Ambiente in Frankfurt, immediately draw great attention from the public. In the same year, he set up his own brand - Catellani & Smith, where his adventure of creating and producing lighting began.
Catellani and Smith is perhaps one of the most unusual & challenging lighting design brands in existence. Greatly inspired by nature and surroundings in anytime and anywhere, Enzo’s playful nature and love for design comes through in every piece. Born with creativity and perseverance, as well as having an excellent team working together with, Enzo has brought Catellani & Smith to a great success, earning high reputation from Europe to the rest of the world. The uniqueness of his production system and the peculiarity of the working spaces have been the driving force of interest and visit from media and international clients. His history has been written in every language and quotations about him in the magazine were numberless.
